Abstract

For non-linear time-variable systems under disturbances sufficient conditions for X observabilityand (X×Z) observability are presented, where X and Z are the sets of unknown initial states and unknown parameters, respectively.

In establishing the results for observability, sufficient conditions for the existence of a non-linearmap to be one to one, when the Jacobian matrix of the map is singular on a subset, are obtained. An example is included to show that X observability at each z∊Z does not necessarily imply (X × Z) observability.
