Abstract
In the 1970s and 80s, fine art and television converged in artistic practices in major broadcast markets. Artists, with recording equipment newly available through collaborations with collectives and tv stations, began making their own video programs that formed alternatives to commercial television programming. This article reviews such artistic practices, focused on 3 works by artists Paul McCarthy, Mike Kelley, and Jaime Davidovich. Book chapter in edited volume, anticipated publication 219.
