Abstract
Black/African American (B/AA) older adults have roughly double the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and greater risk for being undiagnosed compared to non-Hispanic whites (NHW)(2020 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures). There is a dearth of research on AD biomarkers in the B/AA community. Biomarkers identify those at risk for or in the preclinical stages of AD, establish clinical trial eligibility, and inform diagnosis and treatment. This study reviews current literature on AD biomarkers in the B/AA population.
