Abstract
Michael Saltman and Greg Brown discuss the history of modern urban planning beginning with Paris, France, and the history of real estate development in Las Vegas, including the area in and around the UNLV campus. Focus is given to how past development and zoning choices lead to UNLV becoming a commuter campus. The role and goals of the proposed Midtown UNLV project are also discussed.
