The “Data Hub” is a collaborative project from Brookings Mountain West and The Lincy Institute, which provides web-based access to data and information relating to the Mountain West region, the state of Nevada, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), the Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area, and other local organizations and institutions. This compilation of research provides access to external websites which publish national-level data (e.g. the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Economic Innovations Group (EIG), the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.), while simultaneously synthesizing the content of these websites to offer Mountain West-, Nevada-, and Las Vegas-specific data. The purpose of the “Data Hub” at The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West is to offer researchers and policymakers access to these data to move the region toward informed dialogues, and evidence-based policymaking. For example, the “Data Hub” at The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West allows users to construct their own data visualizations, through interactive sections of the website utilizing the Tableau interface, a product that offers researchers the option to produce a variety of user-friendly graphic displays. In addition to providing interactive data, the “Data Hub” also provides access to Fact Sheets published by The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West on a variety of public policy issues. Researchers are encouraged to utilize these data in their own work, powerpoint presentations, and publications, giving proper attribution to both the original source data and the “Data Hub at The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West”. The “Data Hub” at The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West is an ongoing, collaborative effort that will be updated frequently to reflect the availability of new sources of data, and subsequent publications.
