Abstract

As part of the Brookings Scholar Lecture Series, Brookings Mountain West invites you to a lecture titled, "Paris Agreement 101" by Brookings Fellow in Foreign Policy, Samantha Gross.

The Paris Agreement reached at the end of 2015 represents a significant change in how the world approaches the “wicked problem” of climate change. The bottom-up approach to commitments brought the world on board, but how is it being implemented? The recent announcement by President Trump, to remove the United States from this compact, raises a series of issues for the future of this accord. Does the aspiration of the agreement match up to reality? And where do we go from here?
