Abstract

In an effort to alleviate the existing teacher shortages in the field of early childhood education (ECE) across the United States, there is a necessity for teacher preparation programmes to accommodate ECE in-service teachers or graduate students (who do not have the chance to enroll in traditional graduate teacher preparation programmes due to geographical reasons, busy daily teaching schedules, and other personal reasons) the alternate route to complete their entire online graduate coursework in ECE. This accommodation would sufficiently prepare them for desirable teaching positions and potential advancement in various inclusive early childhood settings. This article will describe the continual organization and development of a follow-up alternative online approach for the degree of Master of Education (M.Ed.) in ECE at a Southwestern University.
