I study how science and religion intersect in public discourse and the consequences of alternative beliefs on the public’s understanding of science. This image shows the bow of the Ark Encounter, a life-sized replica of Noah's ark built in Williamstown, Kentucky. The Ark Encounter is one of many creationist tourist sites that challenge scientific conclusions. As one approaches the structure, the bow looms overhead, over 50 feet high and 500 feet long. Inside are three decks of displays, models, and cages that aim to convince audiences of the Bible's accuracy and science’s inability to tell us about the past and future.
