"Conserving America's National Parks" pulls images and information from Abella's 2015 book of the same name, examining the status of conservation challenges and successes in America’s 408 national parks from 1916-2016. The book is filled with rich illustrations and is unprecedented in its scope of conservation stories in our National Parks across the United States. Timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the National Parks Service, this book surveys the important forces of change in our parks at this monumental centenary. the 100-year history of America's national parks system. Abella focuses his research on restoration ecology and is an expert in fire management, plant ecology, habitat-wildlife relationships, and national parks, and has authored or co-authored more than 108 publications. As Director of the Abella Applied Ecology Lab at UNLV, Dr. Abella conducts restoration ecology and applied conservation science research informing conservation and management with resource managers and other scientists. Each screen in this digital gallery explores different themes, images, and illustrations from Abella’s book, as well as images of the National Parks from his private collection.
