Abstract

This paper presents a haptics-based testing-and-evaluation platform for drone-based aerial manipulation. This platform serves towards the designs of a human-in-the-loop approach to dexterous manipulation tasks. The notion stems from using drones to perform tasks like sensor insertion, object positioning, and tool handling for operations like bridge deck maintenance, agricultural crop harvesting, and field services. Presented are the platform design, force sensing and displacement results, and indoor flight tests.
