Abstract
The crystal structure of A-15 superconductor Nb3Ga with a critical temperature Tc=16.5 K has been investigated by high pressure x-ray diffraction (HPXRD) using synchrotron x-rays and a diamond anvil cell under Ne pressure medium. The high pressure structural results indicate that Nb3Ga is stable up to 41 GPa. The P–V plot shows an anomaly around 15 GPa even though there are no pressure induced structural transitions are observed. High pressure resistance measurements were performed up to 0.5 GPa to understand the variation of Tc under pressure. Our results show a positive pressure effect on Tc.
