Goals and Objectives:
- Articulate the two primary ethical principles in conflict when considering an assessment of capacity.
- Define the legal authority provided under an L2K hold within the state of Nevada and the authority not granted under that form of detainment.
- Clarify the difference between specific decision making capacity versus global impairment of cognition.
- Differentiate the pros and cons of a “sliding scale” of competence model.
- Apply the concept of an alternative decision maker legally in clinical care setting.
