Abstract
Prosthecate cells with fimbriae. Rod- or vibrioid-shaped; cells may be fusiform. Nonsporeforming. Nonmotile. Cells stain Gram-negative and have a Gram-negative cell structure. Aerobic or facultatively anaerobic via fermentation. Mesophilic. Chemoorganotrophic. Saccharolytic. Use predominantly mono- and disaccharides and their derivatives. Menaquinones are the only respiratory quinones that have been detected.
