Description
In an event co-sponsored by CineVegas, novelist Russell Banks and writer/producer/actress Guinevere Turner discuss the mechanisms that turn novels into movies. Banks' novels include The Reserve, Cloudsplitter, The Darling, The Relation of My Imprisonment, Continental Drift, Rule of the Bone, Affliction, and The Sweet Hereafter. The latter two works were adapted into feature films that received widespread critical acclaim, and The Darling is currently under development by Focus Features and Martin Scorsese. Banks is presently working on the screenplay for Rule of the Bone. Turner co-wrote the screenplay for Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho and co-wrote and co-produced the groundbreaking film Go Fish, in which she also starred. A writer and story editor for the first two seasons of The L Word, Turner also made several memorable guest appearances on the show as Alice Pieszecki's screenwriter ex-girlfriend, Gabby. In 2005, Turner wrote the script for Blood Rayne, directed by Uwe Boll, and the script for The Notorious Bettie Page with director Mary Harron.
