In the Department of Film at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, we cultivate your potential as an artist, a professional, and a citizen of the world. Our students master the psychology and craft of cinematic storytelling, and understand its roots in emotional truth. We actively embrace the power and potential of motion pictures to inspire, entertain, and cultivate empathy and compassion. Our program gives you the tools and knowledge you need to succeed in the film industry or a related field. Once your required courses are complete, you can select electives to specialize in the area(s) of your choice and prepare for a career as a cinematographer, critic, director, editor, historian, screen actor, producer, production designer, screenwriter, sound editor or designer, costume designer, or professional crew member—or as a pioneer in one of the many newly emerging positions in our continually evolving discipline. You will also be equipped to seek a graduate degree in a top-tier program that matches your goals, whether those involve production or research. If your interest is in screenwriting, you can apply to our highly selective Master of Fine Arts program in Writing for Dramatic Media.
