Abstract
Taken together the topless or nude dance clubs, adult bookstores, adult movies, digital content for cell phones and other mobile devices, online sex in all its forms, sex toys, adult magazines, adult comics, erotic trading cards, adult pay per view TV, dungeons, phone sex services, escort services, street prostitutions, and legalized brothel prostitution constitute a huge and burgeoning sex industry in the United States.
Does this expansion of the sex industry reflect the same pattern of rationalization and McDonaldization that characterizes other rapidly growing segments of the service economy?
