Abstract
This course will give the general dental practitioner an awareness and appreciation for the specialty of oral and maxillofacial pathology and when/how to refer patients. Six interesting cases that demonstrate the various roles of oral pathologists will be presented. Two cases will emphasize the oral manifestations of systemic diseases. The next 2 cases will relate to diagnosis and management of complex oral vesiculo-bullous diseases. Finally, the last 2 cases will illustrate the range of malignancies seen in the practice of oral pathology and the importance of biopsy and referral.
