Abstract
This paper describes the hardware development of a microgrid facility which consists of a PV system, a diesel generator and an adjustable electric load, that can be operated either off-grid or on-grid. The system is intended for conducting experiments and tests related to microgrid issues, thus can be used for both education and research purposes. Several experiments are described including, generator dynamic response to load changes, Autonomous functions of advanced PV inverters, microgrid off-grid operation and transition from the grid.
