Abstract

Data is a hot topic on everyone’s mind – whether you gamble, provide gambling, research gambling, or inhabit any number of other spaces in the field. We have learned a great deal in recent years about the power of data, for applications like providing more tailored services and identifying signs of harm. This lightning talk will outline the power specifically of ‘open data’. It will briefly summarize what we mean when we talk about open data and outline its many benefits for stakeholders across the field. Finally, this talk will issue a call to action to join the movement towards more open data and extend an invitation on how to do so.

Implications:

This lightning talk will provide attendees with an understanding of a term that may be new to some – open data, outline the reasons and ways to support open data, and extend an invitation to move forward on this important topic together

Keywords

data, open data, data sharing
