Description
A study was done to see if picture-based instructions could be used to teach low-literacy individuals how to build projects to improve their own environmental health. Nearly 100 rural Guatemalans without electricity were able to use these instructions to successfully build their own day-time solar bottle bulbs. The project used basic hand tools, recycled water bottles, and scraps of corrugated metal roofing to provide an entire community with indoor lighting for their homes and their school.
