Abstract

License agreements between scholarly publishers and academic libraries are slowly moving away from traditional agreements to "transformative agreements." Over the past two years, large academic consortia, such as the California Digital Library, and academic libraries have entered into "Read and Publish" agreements. The "Read and Publish" agreements increase public availability of scholarly research, via open access, but at what cost?

This presentation will explore the concept of "Read & Publish" agreements and preview what the University Libraries are doing in regards to open access and Read & Publish agreements.
