Abstract

This poster describes a web-based learning environment that was developed to allow visitors to the Las Vegas water authority's web site to explore the effect of different management options on the relationship between water supply and demand. The learning environment builds on a study described in two companion posters (Cloud and Stave, and Stave and Cloud), which developed a system dynamics model of the Las Vegas WATER system, used it to evaluate a set of policy options, and tested the potential of using the model to improve public participation in water management decisions. Based on interest generated by initial parts of the study, the water authority wanted to explore the possibility of broadening the audience for the model by creating a more user friendly web-based interface. This poster describes the learning environment that was created based on the model and discusses initial results of its implementation.
