Abstract
Magnetotactic bacteria are a highly studied group of diverse prokaryotes that biomineralize chains of magnetosomes, single domain, single crystal magnetic nanoparticles of magnetite or greigite, enclosed by a lipid bilayer membrane whose synthesis is under strict genetic control.
