Abstract

Abstract: A new pertechnetate salt, [Co(NH3)6][TcO4]3·2H2O, was prepared from the reaction of NH4TcO4 and [Co(NH3)6]Cl3 in water. The [Co(NH3)6][TcO4]3·2H2O salt was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and its solubility (6.15 × 10−4 M) was measured in water at room temperature. Diffraction measurements indicate the compound to crystallize in the Monoclinic C space group. In [Co(NH3)6][TcO4]3·2H2O, the TcO4 − (avg. Tc–O = 1.716, 1.716, 1.709 Å) and [Co(NH3)6]3+ (avg. Co–N = 1.966 Å) ions are slightly distorted. The supramolecular structure of [Co(NH3)6][TcO4]3·2H2O consists of [Co(NH3)6]3+ and TcO4 − layers which are connected through hydrogen bonding.
