Abstract
One type of high impact practice that can positively affect student success is a first-year experience course. This can be implemented in the psychology curriculum by designing and offering an Introduction to the Psychology Major course. This chapter focuses on four aspects of this course. First, this chapter covers reasons why this course is important. Second, this chapter includes a summary of the positive impacts that this course has on students. Third, there is a discussion of topics and books that can be included in this course. Finally, this chapter has descriptions of a variety of activities that can be helpful for students who take this course.
