Abstract
Novelist Cristina Garcia will be reading from her latest novel, A Handbook to Luck. Part of the novel is set in Las Vegas when a magician in exile from Cuba takes his act and his son to the Strip. Time and circumstance bring together three very different characters, but they are still in the throes of migrating to the United States as were the central characters in Garcia's first novel, Dreaming in Cuban.
