Abstract

Though the episode opens with Dr. Harter giving a brief history of the Black Mountain Institute and its goal of bringing the arts and humanities to the community, discussion focuses on the narrative poetry of C.D. Wright. Wright talks about how her background in a family of readers lead to her becoming a writer, and the ways in which the sound and phrasing of poetry bring layers to her narratives in ways that prose cannot.
